Dear Exchange Students...

Welcome to Poland.

Our YE COMMITTEE D2230 organize 4 country-wide Rotary youth events and 3 optional trips.

Mandatory 4 meetings

1.       The first meeting we have is located in old Polish city called Toruń. This is an orientation meeting designed for students to meet each other. This is during the second week of September (11 - 13 September) so most students have been in Poland for a month and have begun to learn the language.

2.       The next meeting takes place the weekend before Christmas. This meeting is in Wrocław and is very special because the students are allowed to show their culture and how they celebrate Christmas in their native country.

3.       The third meeting, which is in April, is in Krakow. This meeting takes place during the "March of the Living" which is titled "Never Again". This is a march remembering the Holocaust and the lives that were lost. Millions of people were killed in Poland by Nazis during the Second World War and this walk is a way of remembering the people who died.

4.       Finally, the last meeting, which is at the end of May, is a time for all students to see each other for the last time. This meeting takes place in Mielno which is a town very close to Koszalin. During this meeting there are fun competitions, most importantly, the bowling competition.

All of these events are paid for by the host families or host clubs. It is obligatory that this is provided for the exchange student and these meetings are mandatory for the exchange students. Dont forget your Rotary Blazer.

3 non mandatory - optional trips.

For this Rotarian year we have planned 3 tours with partnering SIGMA Travel Office.

  2. Two weeks long tour in March 2010, called the "Grecia Italia" (Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Vatican, Austria). This trip visits most important places in Greece and Italy and costs about 900 Euro ($1300).
  3. Last, one week long tour is organized in the end of Mai 2010, called the "Britania tour". This trip visits United Kingdom, Amsterdam and Brussels about 600 Euro ($900).
